Stevenage Business & Technology Centre

Aston Science Park has helped Stevenage Borough Council and the Hertfordshire Business & Incubation Centre (HBIC) to build an extension to the existing Business & Technology Centre - BTC.

The BTC provides a range of small incubator offices and workshops.  The extended facility will provide 2,235 m2 of quality office aimed at grow on companies, meeting rooms for conferences up to 100 delegates and a new café bistro.  The original building will be integrated into the new facility offering 1,217 m2 of incubator office space for small companies.

Aston Science Park led on the feasibility studies required to develop the project.

• The Concept Proposal was commissioned to map out the proposed extension and to seek the buy-in of the funders.

• The Need & Demand study was prepared to justify the need for the grow on office space required in Stevenage.

• A Green Book Appraisal was commissioned to back up the grant applications.

• A Business Plan was prepared to explain the proposition.

Aston Science Park led on the application process to EEDA (East of England Development Agency) and to GAF (Growth Area Fund) administered through GoEast.  Both applications were successfully contracted providing some £5.6m of grant.

Planning Permission was granted in August 2007.

Construction commenced on site in November 2007 and completion is set for February 2009.
