E-Synergy specialises in adding value to early stage high technology companies. Through a combination of seed finance, training and management and marketing support, we provide entrepreneurs and company managers with opportunities for accelerated growth and commercial success.

E-Synergy was founded in 1999 by the CEOs of four major technology development and licensing organisations, to fill the investment gap which exists between business angel investors and conventional venture capital companies. The founding directors all have many years experience and success in the commercial exploitation of technology in UK and international markets.

Our initial investments are usually in the range £50,000 to £500,000. We invest on behalf of our investor group, which consists of E-Synergy shareholders, and includes a number of high net worth individuals, and also manage the following Funds:

    • Early Growth Fund for the SBS, an agency of the DTI
    • Scottish Enterprise Co-investment Fund
    • Early Growth Fund for the East Midlands
    • Enterprise Capital Fund for Sustainable Technology

An important aspect of our investment process is to help new technology companies to acquire the business and commercial skills necessary for growth and success. E-Synergy runs a series of Investment Readiness Programmes at centres throughout the UK. These programmes comprise specialist workshops in areas such as strategic planning, sales and marketing, intellectual property licensing, legal agreements and corporate finance. These are under-pinned with specialist presentations from recognised business experts and individual mentoring sessions.

Early stage investments are risky. If the added uncertainty of novel, often unproven technology is added to the equation, the high risks can deter even very experienced investors. But the rewards for getting it right can be very substantial. We use our considerable experience to pick investment opportunities where we believe the risk reward ratios are acceptable. We follow this with hands-on management support until the business becomes stable, profitable and capable of delivering added shareholder value at exit.
