Synopsis
Did you know the night-time shot of the Eiffel Tower with all its lights on is a copyrighted image? There are restrictions for its commercial use.

This seminar is a simple, snappy and easy to follow guide to copyright law for images. Picture licenses and model release forms will be explained.

Whether you’re a web designer or business owner using pictures for your services, products or clients, you can avoid expensive litigation by having an insight into what you can and cannot do with pictures.

Director of Picture Nation Ltd

Jane-Louise Green spent 20 years at the BBC as a television news director, local radio reporter and producer for 3 BBC Where I Live websites. She left the BBC to launch Picturenation.co.uk – a royalty-free picture library offering everyday images of everyday things and places. Jane and her team work with picture copyright issues on a daily basis. PN is a member of the British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies.

Linda Macpherson, LL.B. LL.M. Dip.L.P, Intellectual Property and Copyright Law consultant

Linda Macpherson worked for 14 years as an academic, teaching and writing on various areas of law and specialising in IT, intellectual property and media law. She has published articles in a number of professional and academic legal journals. Linda now works as an independent legal consultant and photographer and therefore has experience of copyright and other image rights issues from both sides of the fence. She has advised a variety of photographers and picture libraries including iStockphoto on legal issues relating to the taking and use of images. She is presently working on a book on law for photographers.
