BACKGROUND Join us in celebrating the global impact of business incubation. Worldwide celebrations will highlight the role that business incubation has in developing and growing innovation and entrepreneurship.

8th December 2008 will see the first ever global celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship through business incubation. Although the process of business incubation has been utilised to regenerate and revitalise economies across the global for over 50 years, never before have practitioners and supporters all focused on one day to detail how they are growing the enterprises of the future.
Synopsis This is a superb opportunity for West Midlands based SMEs to discuss how they can source business solutions.
Representatives from the SME focussed funding sources of Innovation Networks (up to 15k) and Advantage Proof of Concept Funding (up to 30k) will be exhibiting and taking part withih the business networking.Additional support organisations will include representatives and solution providers from West Midlands Mobile and Wireless, Accredit, Technology Solutions including Photonics at Aston Science Park, Cercia, IT Futures, Open Advantage, ICentrum, Medilink West Midlands and the National B2B Centre.  David Hardman
| | Chief Operating Officer (COO), Aston Science Park David recently joined the Aston Science Park team as COO. He was previously Chief Executive Officer of Babraham Bioscience Technologies Ltd, the Babraham Institute’s trading company in Cambridge. Over a 10 year period from 1998 David led the establishment of the Commercial Office within the Institute which, as the activities grew, became BBT. BBT’s holistic approach to incubation made the Babraham Campus one of the leading bioincubators in Europe. David raised over £16m to fund two new bioincubator buildings and helped design the facilities to suit the needs of the start up and early stage bioventures. |
 Norman Price
| | OBE, Chairman of the Regional Enterprise Board Norman is a government adviser on business finance and tax issues and an active and successful entrepreneur. Norman has a portfolio of roles in the public and private sector associated with business and economic development after a senior career in engineering businesses. He has recently been very active in regional development in the West Midlands formerly as deputy chair of the Regional Development Agency, and currently chair of the Regional Enterprise Board, Finance Forum, and Birmingham Science City. He is therefore in an ideal position to review the future of business support and funding for growth to develop the regional businesses. |
 Glenn Barrowman
| | Project Manager, The West Midlands ICT Hub Glenn is an experienced member of the Aston Science Park Business Development team, and is responsible for leading the West Midlands ICT Hub initiative (www.wmictcluster.org) supporting the development of the ICT business community. Previously, Glenn was responsible for the delivery of the Photonics Cluster (UK) technology network and prior to joining Aston Science Park, Glenn was a Park Director for Coventry University and also worked for Scottish Enterprise, Lothian and Edinburgh Enterprise. |
