Aston Science Park support business awards

26th January 2006

Aston Science Park, the latest organisation to come on board to provide sponsorship support for The Birmingham Post’s annual Business Awards initiative, is to step up its “added value package.”

The Science Park, which provides quality accommodation for start-up companies in the knowledge-based sector right through to established businesses, is to sponsor this year’s luncheon at the Botanical Gardens, Birmingham, on 26th April, when the overall winner of the 2006 Awards scheme will be announced.

Today, it further announced that it would be offering a £1,000 benefits package as an additional prize for the winner.

The Science Park, recognised worldwide as a leader in technological innovation for its encouragement of the advance of new-age opportunities, will provide a free sponsorship package at one of its highly-successful Seminars for Success events, which cover a variety of topics, including business planning, HR, marketing, ICT and corporate finance. The package includes an exhibition stand at the Science Park’s main networking room, company logo on all event publicity material and on the Science Park website, including a company summary. The winner will also receive six months use of Aston Science Park’s meeting rooms at a discounted rate.

Dr Derek Harris, chief executive of Aston Science Park, which was originally established in 1983 as a result of a partnership between Birmingham City Council, Lloyds TSB and the University of Aston, said:  “The Birmingham Post’s initiative is highly regarded as an awards scheme which rewards entrepreneurial flair and business enterprise – qualities which are at the heart of more than 100 companies who today operate successfully from their base at the Science Park.”

He added:  “We are delighted to be associated with the awards and that we have been able to extend the range of our support for such a well-established scheme that raises the profile of business success in the Midlands.”
