Aston Science Park has been building bridges in the community by allowing local college students the opportunity to complete work placements within a successful business environment.

Students have been based at Faraday Wharf and have worked within the centralised Marketing and Communications team assisting with co-ordinating and promoting events, including euroLED and the Seminars for Success series. Some of the projects based at Aston Science Park such as the Photonics Cluster (UK), West Midlands ICT Hub and iCentrum have also received some help from the students.

Recently Ouzair Malik from Solihull College completed a two week work placement at the Park. Ouzair commented, ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working at Aston Science Park and feel I have gained a lot of hands on experience as a result of this work placement. I was made to feel very welcome throughout the two weeks and was encouraged to ask as many questions as possible’.

Eve Gaut, Marketing and Events Executive for Aston Science Park, commented, ‘As a business we are extremely keen to become more involved within the local community and I am delighted that students in Birmingham want to gain work experience at Aston Science Park. With such a vast range of businesses based here, the Park offers a fantastic base for networking and increasing contacts.’
