Aston Science Park has expanded its ICT Business & Innovation Centre, iBIC, just a year after the building was officially opened. The Centre, which is designed to accommodate information and communication technology (ICT) companies, was officially opened in September 2005 to address the continuing demand for high quality incubation space and associated services on Aston Science Park.
The expansion will see an additional 3077 sq ft of small units to accommodate small and start-up companies, increasing the Parks total incubator space to 60, 683 sq ft. In addition to traditional services such as security and reception, new tenants will be offered a year's free membership of regional ICT project, iCentrum, which aims to helps SMEs grow and compete with their bigger rivals in the ICT sector. The presence of iCentrum will present significant opportunities for ICT tenant who will benefit from their extensive facilities and resources.
Chief Executive of Aston Science Park, Dr Derek Harris, said: "The iBIC has been tremendously successful since its opening in autumn 2005 and proves that there is a real demand for high quality incubation space for technology based companies. Enquiry levels indicate a very high demand for space below 200 sq ft so the obvious way forward was to meet that demand by expanding the current facilities, providing offices between 70 and 240 sq ft."
