Inaugural Technology Award for Birmingham Post Business Award Scheme

April 27, 2006

Aston Science Park, which sponsored The Birmingham Post Business Awards’ 20th anniversary luncheon, held at the Botanical Gardens, also provided a special Technology Award. It is the first time that such a prize, worth £2,000 in total, has been provided in the history of the Awards and, according to Phil Lines, director of finance at Aston Science Park, who made the presentation, was felt to be highly relevant to the increasing use of technology amongst the twelve monthly award winners.

The prize, awarded to Richmond Design & Marketing, is aimed at helping further promote the business and includes the use of meeting and conference facilities at Aston Science Park for six months, and a promotional stand at one of the Science Park’s highly-successful “Seminars for Success,” which regularly attract more than 100 people to each event.

In addition, Aston Science Park, which is also a sponsor of the Southern Region Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, run by Ernst & Young, will take a representative of Richmond Design & Marketing as its guest to theUK national Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Dinner in London in October. Finally, in keeping with the technology theme, the company also receives an all-in-one printer/fax/scanner with the compliments of the Science Park.

Phil Lines said:  “Our experience of the companies which have won the monthly Birmingham Post Business Awards this year shows that more and more businesses are grasping opportunities afforded to them by new technologies. The winner of the Technology Prize, Richmond Design and Marketing is a fantastic example of this and so we felt that it was very important to recognise their achievement.

“As the base for more than 100 knowledge-based and technology-focused enterprises, employing over 1,400 people, Aston Science Park is very much involved in helping SME businesses to grow. In putting our prize together, we wanted to provide a package which would help to further promote the business. We would like to congratulate David Keene and his team and to wish them huge success as they continue to develop this super product,” added Mr Lines.
