25th July 2005 Software Company Datacom Ltd has relocated its headquarters from Hampshire to Birmingham after identifying the benefits of the new iBIC (ICT Business & Innovation Centre) at Aston Science Park. The company provides businesses with a full IT service for a per user monthly fee, meaning that companies using Datacom’s service require no capital for IT and have access to a fully managed 24/7 help desk. Datacom Director, Karen Leyland said: “Relocating our head office from Hampshire was a major decision for us. Being in the West Midlands places Datacom at the centre of the UK economy, the region is rich in talent and is looking to foster innovation and technology, fitting perfectly with our company profile. Aston Science Park plays a fundamental role in the region and was therefore a natural place for us to be located. We wanted a prestige location with excellent facilities including car parking that offered flexible terms that could accommodate and support our business as we continue to expand.” Recently with the help of Aston Science Park and Graduate Advantage, an organisation offering supported graduate training positions, Datacom have recruited Vik Bhatti who is participating in STEP (Shell Enterprise Training Programme). The programme enables businesses to access talented undergraduates to undertake an 8 week business project during the summer period. Vic will be working on product development tasked with building and configuring a test server for proof of concepts to prospective clients.
