Prime Minister Tours Birmingham Park

Former Polish minister recently enjoyed a visit to Birmingham’s leading Science Park and University.

The former Prime Minister of Poland, Jerzy Buzek visited Birmingham, looking at how the city and the West Midlands are making the most of new technologies and innovation.

He saw round both Aston and Birmingham universities to find out more about the Birmingham Science City initiative and the Photonics Group research laboratories.

Prof Jerzy Buzek was previously Prime Minister of Poland in the years 1997-2001 is currently a MEP to the West Midlands. During his visit at Aston Science Park, Jerzy Buzek received an excellent snapshot of the range of activities and projects that the West Midland region have developed in the area of research, innovation and advanced technologies.

Dr Derek Harris, Chief Executive of Aston Science Park greeted Jerzy Buzek to the Park before his tour of the Parks facilities including a visit to the Photonics Cluster laboratories. 

Jerzy Buzek MEP said, "Both Aston Science Park and the Photonics Research Group at Aston University and Science City are leading their fields in cutting edge technologies and ensuring a cross over between academia and industry.

"I am impressed that the West Midland is working closely with the scientific community to maximise the potential benefits that the Framework Programme can offer."
