| Science Park Chief Executive "Stumped" By Two Surprise Presentations |
![]() Aston Science Park’s continuing sponsorship of an annual fixture at Tamworth Cricket Club was marked with two special presentations to Science Park chief executive Dr Derek Harris. The Science Park has, through Derek’s ongoing support, been sponsoring cricket at Tamworth for eleven years. Last Saturday’s Birmingham League Division Two fixture against table-topping Penn Cricket Club was the final one before Derek’s retirement as chief executive of the Science Park later this year. Derek, who is a vice-president of Tamworth Cricket Club, received a plaque, presented by club president Robin Norris, awarding him life membership of the club. And on behalf of Derek’s friends within the media, John Duckers, former business editor of The Birmingham Post, presented him with two specially autographed cricket bats. Signed by the England team and the Worcestershire squad, the bats were generously donated by the Warwickshire and Worcestershire County Cricket Clubs, of which Derek has been a member for a number of years. Derek commented: “I was honoured to have been made a Life Member of the club – and delighted to receive two more ‘treasures’ to add to my collection of cricketing memorabilia.” Photo Caption: President of Tamworth Cricket Club, Robin Norris presenting Aston Science Park Chief Executive Dr Derek Harris with life time membership of the club. |
