Aston Science Park’s representative, Glenn Barrowman recently visited Photonics West in San Francisco to develop further linkages and opportunities between America and the UK on behalf of UKTI.

Glenn Barrowman of the West Midlands ICT Hub incorporating Photonics Cluster UK, and Josianne Gros-Louis, Vice Consul, UKTI San Francisco, were able to secure full access to the breakfast for 30 representatives of UK companies attending Photonics West.

Mary Gilbert HM Deputy Consul General provided the VIP address to close the formal proceedings of a prestigious industry breakfast within the Global Advantage's Business Opportunities Breakfast at Photonics West 2008. The breakfast took place on January 23rd with over 250 attendees.

The HM Deputy Consul General based in San Francisco thanked the three host cities of Ottawa, Tuscon and Berlin on behalf of the UK, the 2008 Global Advantage guest country. Mrs Gilbert went on to outline areas of expertise prevalent within the UK including the development and incorporation of energy efficient lighting technology products such as light emitting diodes.

Mrs Gilbert referenced the excellent euroLED Conference and extended a complimentary invitation to clients of the Global Advantage countries to attend the exhibition of the Premier UK and European Solid State Lighting and LED Conference and Exhibition held over 2 days on 4-5 June 2008 in the heart of the midlands, UK.

UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) is the British Government organisation that supports UK-based companies succeed in international markets via flexible business tools and customised reports and services.
